Expo Experience ~ And the winner is….
June 11, 2013 § Leave a comment
The past few weeks have consisted of EXPOS; setting up mini-studios at 2 different expos and spontaneous portraits of passersby. First, was the Women’s Expo in Zürich, which is the first of its kind here in Switzerland and a promising event which showcases women entrepreneurs and their products and services. The second was the Expat Expo in Basel, a platform for local business to assist the expat community (and others) to find schooling, helpful services and such.
At the Veronica Kiefer Photography booth, we offered mini make-up and hair make-overs and then a short portrait photography session for those who wanted to enjoy a make over and have their portrait taken. The two days of the events flew by fast = we had fun!
AND……..
There was also prize drawing for a full photography session valued at CHF 350, with make-over for the winner.
And, the winner is: ~ ERIN O’BRIEN ~ Congratulations!!! We are looking forward to having you over for your portrait session.
Here are some images to give you a taste of the activity from the two events:
Surprising her Man

We had prepared for this day in advance. It would be a surprise, for him. She arranged make-up and her hair to be done, purchased and packed special outfits, and ensured he blocked the date (as he is a busy man). He did so, however without knowing what it would be about. He trusted her.
He must have wondered what they would do on a Sunday afternoon with all that preparation. And he just went along with it. And once he knew, he continued to go along with it, and showed how much he adores her. Thank you both for letting me share some of the images from that special Sunday afternoon.

Autumn rays
December 12, 2012 § Leave a comment
September and October have the most gorgeous evening skies. Often pink or orange, warm light mirrors in the sky and stretch down to earth for the most stunning moments of creation through the autumn months. When those rays come down and light up our surroundings and a photograph is taken, dreamy images can be captured forever. And with a beautiful family to photograph, it turned out just perfect this October afternoon.
Welcome, sweet little Lainey

Two weeks old, awake, alert, and active; sweet little Lainey at our first meeting.
We decided to do the photo session at the new family’s home. Surrounded by your own things the photos become more personal. Like a photo of Lainey’s cousin on the desk in the background and the lovely details in her room.
Being in the city, I was wondering how to get all the supplies and props I brought with me to their place, making sure my little boy doesn’t run around on the street unattended and while I was dropping off the luggage and finding a place to park. God works in mysterious ways; in this area it’s not so easy to find parking but there it was – a parking spot right outside their door, just for us. How little things make me happy.
Lainey was asleep when we arrived. But apparently, she didn’t want to miss any of the action, and stayed awake for the rest of our visit. Even though we may feel that many baby-poses turn out ‘better’ when they are sleeping, we were able to get some lovely captures of this new little miracle while she was moving and observing the happenings.
I can’t wait to see her grow. Welcome sweet little Lainey.
Barefoot in the grass

…is one of the most relaxing feelings I know. I think this love of barefootness started when I was a child and moved to Sweden. The grass there was soft and welcoming, not like the thick perfectly trimmed Houston outdoor-carpets which actually hurt when you walked or sat in it (wearing shorts). No bare feet there, the risk of cutting your feet was too high.
I also believe that running around barefoot makes people feel more free and relaxed. Kids just take off and do their thing. That’s when I do my best to run after and catch a shot or two of how each child enjoys that barefoot feeling. Thanks to Ian and his family, for letting me be part of their barefoot afternoon in the park!
Welcoming 40

Recently I had the honour of photographing one part of a 40th birthday-weekend celebration. The entire weekend was planned for Melanie and her friends, some who flew in from the States especially to be with a special friend on her day. The apèro took place at Les Gareçons in Basel, where later in the evening also dinner was served for the guests. As rumour has it… the party lasted into the wee hours of the morning…
40 is a great age to welcome and celebrate. That was certainly the atmosphere of this evening. Thanks for an inspiring and fun time with you and your friends Melanie!
