Autumn rays
December 12, 2012 § Leave a comment
September and October have the most gorgeous evening skies. Often pink or orange, warm light mirrors in the sky and stretch down to earth for the most stunning moments of creation through the autumn months. When those rays come down and light up our surroundings and a photograph is taken, dreamy images can be captured forever. And with a beautiful family to photograph, it turned out just perfect this October afternoon.
Welcome, sweet little Lainey

Two weeks old, awake, alert, and active; sweet little Lainey at our first meeting.
We decided to do the photo session at the new family’s home. Surrounded by your own things the photos become more personal. Like a photo of Lainey’s cousin on the desk in the background and the lovely details in her room.
Being in the city, I was wondering how to get all the supplies and props I brought with me to their place, making sure my little boy doesn’t run around on the street unattended and while I was dropping off the luggage and finding a place to park. God works in mysterious ways; in this area it’s not so easy to find parking but there it was – a parking spot right outside their door, just for us. How little things make me happy.
Lainey was asleep when we arrived. But apparently, she didn’t want to miss any of the action, and stayed awake for the rest of our visit. Even though we may feel that many baby-poses turn out ‘better’ when they are sleeping, we were able to get some lovely captures of this new little miracle while she was moving and observing the happenings.
I can’t wait to see her grow. Welcome sweet little Lainey.
Barefoot in the grass

…is one of the most relaxing feelings I know. I think this love of barefootness started when I was a child and moved to Sweden. The grass there was soft and welcoming, not like the thick perfectly trimmed Houston outdoor-carpets which actually hurt when you walked or sat in it (wearing shorts). No bare feet there, the risk of cutting your feet was too high.
I also believe that running around barefoot makes people feel more free and relaxed. Kids just take off and do their thing. That’s when I do my best to run after and catch a shot or two of how each child enjoys that barefoot feeling. Thanks to Ian and his family, for letting me be part of their barefoot afternoon in the park!
Little Blessing

Little N is 4 weeks old. Big sister P is 3 and totally protective of her new baby brother. In between convincing P that I will not hurt little N when I photograph him, and mamma consoling him every few minutes, we did manage to get quite some wonderful captures of this newborn little blessing. What a wonderful few hours with the family it was.

October in the park

.. can be a dangerously cold event. If you are there already at 08.30 on a clear morning. The weather promised beautifully sunny, but none of us were prepared that it would only be 5° C that morning. The park was beautiful with changing leaves and pure stillness, and we had it all to ourselves. PERFECT. Just a little chilly. Keeping after 3-year old H was a challenge, if you want sharp photos that is. It was easier with little H, she was less mobile. After 30 minutes when big sister kept asking to go in to the café (which was still closed), we decided to meet up again in the afternoon when it would be warmer, for the rest of the session.
In the afternoon we no longer had the park to ourselves, but we found a few corners to take some colorful pictures. Gorgeous girls, and gorgeous parents.
Tuesday Morning

There used to be a nice interior design shop around the corner from our place in Houston that my step-mom and I loved to go to. It was called Tuesday Morning. Is it still around in the USA? I like the way the name sounded so peaceful, adventurous and special.
Last Tuesday Morning was special to me. I had a wonderful photo-session with a family I photographed 6 months ago when little Aurelia was just newly born. Her sister Jasira ran around and wanted lot’s of attention back then, this time she was doing great with direction and knew how to pose, by just being herself. She is really gorgeous. Here are a few impressions from that shoot.
